Low-Volume Receivers Face Unfavorable Matchups

Courtland Sutton of the Denver Broncos is among the wide receivers fantasy managers should consider sitting in Week 6, according to Sports Illustrated. The publication points to a "discouraging" season for the Broncos offense, where quarterback Bo Nix has struggled and Sutton’s target share has dropped to 14 percent.

Sutton has recorded a 46 percent catch rate on those targets. SI notes that there is "nothing to rave about" with the veteran wide receiver's current production levels.

Similarly, Romeo Doubs of the Green Bay Packers presents limited upside. Doubs holds a 16 percent target share and a 13 percent reception share this season. His best performance came in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills, while he has recorded three or fewer receptions in four other games.

Doubs faces a difficult defensive alignment in Week 6. The New York Jets rank as the seventh-best defense against wide receivers in fantasy football, further reducing Doubs' viability for that week.

Quarterback Dynamics Limit Ceiling for Other Options

Washington Commanders receiver Emeka Egbuka faces hurdles related to quarterback play. In games with Jalon Daniels at quarterback, Egbuka has averaged less than seven yards per reception. This figure is nearly half the NFL average.

Sports Illustrated suggests that Baker Mayfield’s return may be necessary for Egbuka to become a viable fantasy option. Even then, SI notes that Egbuka would require at least five receptions in PPR (points per reception) formats to justify starting him.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin has maintained a 95 percent catch rate in 2026, converting 19 of his 20 targets. However, he has not reached 50 receiving yards or scored an end zone touchdown in any game this season.

With Jalon Daniels under center, SI does not foresee much of a ceiling for Godwin’s fantasy output in the upcoming week.

Injury Status and Team Struggles Affect Availability

Los Angeles Chargers receiver Ladd McConkey was active for Week 5 but did not see the field, indicating his health is closer to 50 percent than 100 percent. The Chargers are currently struggling as a team, which compounds concerns for McConkey’s fantasy outlook.

Excluding his inactive status in Week 5, McConkey is averaging 9.1 PPR fantasy points per game. Among Chargers receivers, he ranks 49th in wide receiver rankings, highlighting his diminished role in the passing game.

Indianapolis Colts receiver Keenan Allen hopes to play this week, but the team is dealing with significant instability regarding head coach Shane Steichen’s job security. Allen averages 7.3 targets, 4.5 receptions, and 34 yards per game.

Statistically, Allen ranks 75th in Yards per Target and 87th in receiving EPA, underscoring the inefficiency of his production despite his volume.

Emerging Talents Lack Consistent Production

Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas Jr. failed to catch any of his three targets in Week 5. He is averaging just 3.2 targets and 1.8 receptions per game, raising questions about his consistency as a starter.

Sports Illustrated suggests that Thomas Jr. remains a formidable handcuff for Jakobi Meyers or Parker Washington injuries rather than a drop candidate. His low reception average makes him risky for weekly starts.

Chicago Bears receiver Makai Lemon is averaging about seven yards per reception with a 15 percent target share. Over five games, he has totaled 108 yards without a touchdown, indicating a lack of red-zone efficiency.

With DeVonta Smith remaining hurt, the Philadelphia Eagles have not provided enough evidence for Lemon to be considered a must-start option in fantasy lineups.
