Ukraine Demands Decisive Action Against Infrastructure Strikes

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on international partners to respond decisively to what he described as a new phase of Russian aggression, urging the strengthening of Ukraine's air defense and the imposition of effective sanctions on Russia's defense industry.

Sybiha stated that this week marked a "new chapter" in Russia's campaign of all-day terror against civilians. He noted that after targeting food depots, retail chains, pharmacy warehouses, and vital databases, Russian forces are now directing attacks at bridges.

The foreign minister described these structures as critical lifelines that keep the country functioning, connect communities, allow people to get to work, and provide access to essential services. He urged strong reactions from allies "both in words and deeds," stating, "Make clear to Moscow that it must stop its escalation and terror – and engage in diplomacy and peace efforts."

Sybiha also called on allies to add individuals and organizations enabling the regime to continue committing crimes to sanctions lists.

Recent Attacks on Kyiv Infrastructure

The diplomatic appeal follows recent strikes on key transportation hubs in the capital. Sybiha recalled that over the past few days, Russia had struck two bridges in Kyiv six times while civilian traffic was using them and metro trains were crossing.

Reports indicate that two people were injured in a Russian strike on Kyiv's Northern Bridge on October 4.

The Escalation of Terror Tactics

Sybiha characterized the recent wave of attacks as part of a broader pattern of aggression designed to destabilize Ukrainian society. By shifting focus from logistical and commercial sites to critical transportation networks, Moscow is targeting the daily life of citizens.

The foreign minister emphasized that bridges are not merely concrete structures but vital connections for communities. Their destruction impedes access to essential services and disrupts the ability of people to reach their workplaces.

In response to these developments, Sybiha reiterated the need for a unified international stance. He argued that partners must demonstrate their commitment through both verbal condemnation and tangible actions, including targeted sanctions against those supporting the Russian regime's military capabilities.
