A Dream of Splendor

Zhao Pan'er is a clever, shrewd teahouse proprietor in Qiantang, shadowed by her two closest companions, Sun Sanniang and Song Yinzhang. When she learns that her fiancé left her for another woman who has become an official in the capital, Bianjing, she refuses to surrender to fate and sets out for the capital to uncover the truth. Along her journey, she crosses paths with both of her best friends, whom she rescues, and they choose to accompany her onward. Gu Qianfan serves as a commander in an elite capital squadron nicknamed the Living Devil. He is set up by the very powers he serves and must uncover the truth behind a nefarious scheme entwined with the imperial court. When Zhao Pan'er first meets him, they clash, yet this intelligent businesswoman captures his attention, and as they assist each other, they move closer to their respective goals.
