A Way Home
Filmmaker Karima Saïdi turns her mother Aïcha’s battle with Alzheimer's into a documentary portrait filmed inside a Brussels care home, aiming to capture her essence before memory vanishes. As Aïcha grows more confused, Karima guides her on a mental journey into the past. Using Aïcha’s own stories alongside a broad archive of family materials, the film assembles an intimate sketch of her life. It begins with her youth in Morocco, traces how her husband brought her from Tangiers to Belgium, and follows how she later raised her children as a single mother.
