Season six of the acclaimed CNN Original Series Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown, winner of Emmy and Peabody Awards, returns with its premiere on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, as the host guides viewers through Cuba. The eight-episode arc also takes in Marseille, Okinawa, Ethiopia, California's Bay Area, Borneo, Istanbul, and Charleston, South Carolina.

In the season six premiere, Bourdain guides viewers through Cuba at a moment when the half-century U.S. embargo appears to ease and cues of economic and social progress begin to loom. Beginning in the vibrant capital Havana and moving to the more laid-back rhythms of Santiago, he observes daily life and culture with a keen eye. The tasting menu features pig's head soup with plantains and pumpkin, flan in a beer can, and dogfish ceviche with pickled vegetables. The journey culminates in a dialogue-free tracking shot that captures the hopeful anxiety of its people, who seem to be waiting for something to start.
