Are The Stars Alive?
Are The Stars Alive is a 3-minute, 35mm visual poem about the power of curiosity and personal growth. It follows a woman who begins to trust her own instincts as she seeks to understand the universe's complexities, showing that the answers to many questions lie within us. The film also honors pioneering women, including astronomer Maria Mitchell, whom the project is loosely based on, and the women who painstakingly hand-colored Georges Méliès’ masterpieces from the early days of cinema. These women painted stories in the stars and laid the groundwork for all of us, enabling curiosity to flourish. By hand-cutting and coloring the film frame by frame, the creators seek to honor the nameless women who inspired us to become storytellers and rebels.
