Ballad of the Ming Tombs Reservior

Set amid the construction of a water reservoir near the Ming Tombs outside Beijing, in 1958 at the dawn of the Great Leap Forward, the film tracks how workers and leaders collaborate to bring the project to fruition. Its final 25 minutes offer a future interpretation of what the reservoir will look like twenty years after its completion.
