Bexiga, Ano Zero
A concise portrait of the traditional Bexiga, a key neighborhood in the early 20th century, defined by the mass arrival of Italian immigrants who found a home while building their businesses and contributing to São Paulo’s thriving economy. In the latter half of the century, the affluent families departed, and others were displaced amid a government crisis. With numerous vacant houses and spaces, Bexiga became a hotspot for home invasions by poor families living beneath the streets.
