Buried at Sea
This documentary examines the ocean disposal of surplus World War II chemical weapons conducted by Canada, Germany, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and the United States. Through a sharp mix of interview footage and archival photography, the film traces the emergence of a pressing threat: hundreds of thousands of tons of chemical munitions disposed of along our coastlines. The exact dumping locations were not consistently recorded on navigation charts. Six decades later, containers designed to endure fifty years have begun to disintegrate, presenting substantial danger to both marine life and coastal communities.
