Carnival in Flanders
Set in 1616, Boom, a small town in Flanders under the Hispanic Monarchy, the locals bustle to organize their annual festivities when news arrives that the Duke of Olivares, ruling on behalf of King Philip III of Spain, will visit. While the men sink into panic, the women rise as fearless hosts, delivering hospitality the Spaniards have never experienced. This is the German adaptation of the celebrated 1935 French film La Kermesse héroïque.
