November 1967 finds nurse Colleen McMurphy approaching the final week of her Vietnam tour of duty, as she tends to the dying boys amid primitive conditions and endures the sexual pressure from pilot Natch Austin. USO singers Georgia Lee and Laurette Barber arrive to entertain the troops in the base's newly opened R&R center. A brand-new Red Cross volunteer, Cherry White, arrives determined to locate her brother, a Marine who remains unlocatable.
