Chowkidar
This tale lays bare feudalism in its raw form. The tonga and the village folk's naive simplicity are exploited by the Jagirdar and his cohorts. Until the Chowkidar and a doctor—the money-lender's only son—who first earns goodwill by curing the ill and offering financial assistance for recovery, decide to spark change. Under the Jagirdar's sway, the villagers are inflamed as his thugs frame the Chowkidar and the doctor, threatening the welfare of two women. Throughout the film, the Jagirdar grapples with his father's sins; will he become a man and acknowledge the crime of his father?
