Season 1

At nineteen, Christy Huddleston travels from Asheville to teach in Cutter Gap, a poverty-stricken mountain settlement where she must learn to live independently and blend in with the locals. She befriends Miss Alice at the Mission, the town's doctor Dr. MacNeill, and the Reverend. Meanwhile, Christy and Dr. MacNeill share some 'quality' time together, and the discovery of a secret stash of moonshine beneath the school creates trouble for David and Christy.
