Do we still extol the folly Erasmus celebrated, or has cleverness become the prevailing ideal? And who can truly lay claim to the sharpest mind? One contestant can recount the Olympic medals won in London, yet also knows who Captain Haddock is. Another can discern whether Lacan was a hair-growth product or a psychoanalyst, and can program their own digital television. Yet another experiences déjà vu while leafing through the Encyclopedia Britannica and while reading interviews with the new Miss Waregem Koerse. Who, then, is the smartest person in Flanders, Belgium, Europe, and by extension the world? A gripping contest unfolds among three fellow competitors. Each day, one is eliminated, not always the absolute smartest, but someone valued for other talents by their family. The others advance and are joined by a fresh challenger every day.
