Death in the Archive investigates forgotten cinema and the lives of artists, tracing a continuum from intimate personal archives to public institutions. The film unfolds as a historical montage and a diaristic map of visionary Beat filmmakers rooted in San Francisco's North Beach, conjuring the celluloid bodies and creative metabolisms that endure despite the human and material mortality surrounding artists, images, and fragile film stocks. Fragments of Dion Vigné, Jordan Belson, and Christopher MacLaine braid with personal histories and cinematic visions, building an archaeology of memory. The preservation of both media and life becomes an ephemeral transmission—the delicate survival of memory.
