Millions of teenagers are drawn to extreme metal whose lyrics center on murder, rape, satanism and necrophilia. This World investigates potential links between death metal and a series of brutal crimes worldwide. In Italy, a group of young death metal fans formed a satanic cult named the Beasts of Satan. At least four horrific killings are attributed to this milieu. Yet death metal musicians insist they bear no responsibility for the acts of fans who claim allegiance to the genre. With exclusive access to the families, to one of the killers, and to graphic police footage, the film reveals the inside story for the first time. We hear from the musicians, the children and the parents from Oslo to California, and we ask how far music can go to shock and how damaging it might be.
