Episode Guide
Bloody Foreigners, a documentary by Andrew Smith, investigates the British attitude toward asylum seekers and immigrants who live and work in the UK. It lays bare a culture of hypocrisy in which xenophobia flourishes to the point that asylum seekers endure daily physical and verbal abuse. The film also underscores that many of these individuals are effectively exploited, earning well below minimum wage to enrich ostensibly legitimate British businesses. In Part One, it exposes a scam surrounding a government-funded housing project in Liverpool. The owner collects millions from the council under the pretense of providing accommodation to asylum seekers. Yet the blocks of flats are found in a shocking state of disrepair, with freezing conditions and poor treatment of residents by locals. Hidden camera footage documents assaults and harassment of inhabitants, regularly carried out by neighboring youths.
