This portrait centers on a man whose encounter with the war in Eastern Ukraine has become a personal trial. Beard is a Donbas native, a man in his mid-forties, a family man and an ordinary worker. The Director is a young man of about twenty-six, single, a west-leaning intellectual from the intelligentsia. It captures the ordinary soldier’s daily routine. These are the people and moments you might encounter there. It explores the relationships between those who must be here in the moment of war. It is not only a unique life experience but also a cultural exchange across different social strata and communities, giving birth to new, distinctive traditions.
