Evolution of a Criminal
In 1997, 17-year-old Darius Clark Monroe robbed a bank and served time in prison; he later enrolled in NYU's film school and created this autobiographical film about his life. Presented as an act of atonement, the movie follows Monroe's effort to understand himself and the social forces that led him to a life of crime. Executive produced by Spike Lee, who was one of Monroe's professors at NYU.
