Film-Tract n° 1968

In the heart of the 1968 Paris movement, Jean-Luc Godard produced a 16mm, three-minute film titled Film-tract No.1968, Le Rouge, created in collaboration with French artist Gérard Fromanger. Opening with a shot that identifies its title painted in red on Le Monde, in the issue dated July 31, 1968, the piece then documents the creation of Fromanger’s poster image, a scene in which thick red paint flows over a tri-color French flag.
