Francisco Boix: A Photographer in Hell
In 1939, as the Spanish Civil War comes to an end, Spanish Republican photographer Francesc Boix escapes from Spain; he is captured by the Nazis in 1940 and imprisoned in the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria a year later. There, as a prisoner assigned to the SS Photographic Service, he hides around 20,000 negatives from 1943 to 1945, which later surface as evidence in several postwar trials against Nazi war criminals.
