In Depth

A fondo, literally 'In Depth', was a Spanish television interview series hosted by Joaquín Soler Serrano and broadcast on Televisión Española's La Primera Cadena from 1976 to 1981. Its stated mission, as proclaimed in the opening title cards, was to interview 'the leading figures in letters, the arts, and sciences.' Beginning with Jorge Luis Borges, the guest on the first episode aired on September 8, 1976, the program hosted some of the Spanish-speaking world's most respected intellectuals. In 1976 critics awarded the show a Premio Ondas in the 'national television' category.
