Iniciación de un shamán

Part fiction, part documentary, Initiation of a Shaman follows Rarowe, a young Yanomami man standing on the cusp of initiation, who must forge contact with spirits carried by visiting shamans. The rite's effects ripple through him as he endures, waiting to see if he can withstand the ordeal at its conclusion. This initiation is a rare event, unfolding only as the elder medicine man nears death. The ancient ceremony pits the youth against malevolent spirits that strive to prevent the venerable shaman from passing his wisdom to the protégé. Hallucinogenic plants are employed by the tribe to sharpen perception. The haunting imagery is reminiscent of Castaneda's literary world.
