Kenneth: Ron Padgett
Ron Padgett (born 1942) is a poet and editor whose career took off in his teenage years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There, alongside Joe Brainard and Dick Gallup, he co-founded The White Dove Review, an art and culture magazine. Padgett and Brainard later moved to New York City together, where Padgett studied at Columbia University under Kenneth Koch and engaged with a circle of Beat poets. He has taught poetry at several institutions in the city, edited volumes such as Full Court Press and Teachers & Writers Magazine, and published numerous collections of poetry, including the 2013 Collected Poems, which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. He also authored memoirs about Brainard and about fellow Tulsa native Ted Berrigan.
