La Grotte Cosquer, un chef-d'œuvre en sursis

Just off Marseille, at Cape Morgiou within the Calanques massif, lies the Cosquer cave, submerged beneath the sea. Discovered roughly thirty years ago by diver Henri Cosquer, its walls boast hundreds of paintings and engravings: horses, bison, jellyfish, and penguins. It is the world's only underwater decorated cave, offering insights into Mediterranean societies 30,000 years ago. Today, threatened by rising waters accelerated by global warming, this Upper Paleolithic jewel risks being swallowed by the sea. To safeguard it, the Ministry of Culture has undertaken its digitization. From this virtual duplicate, a surface replica has been created to let the public admire these masterworks.
