On January 1, 1994, the Zapatista Army of National Liberation sparked a revolt in Chiapas. A Spanish filmmaker chronicles the anguish of the indigenous population. Six years hence, he plans to go further and visit the refugees and the guerrillas. Yet a suffocating siege of silence envelops the region, protected by more than sixty thousand soldiers who bar access to the indigenous communities.
