Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is an American late-night talk show that airs on NBC on weeknights at 12:35 am Eastern / 11:35 pm Central. The hour-long program premiered on March 2, 2009, and is hosted by actor, comedian and performer Jimmy Fallon, a Saturday Night Live alumnus. The Roots, a hip hop/neo-soul band, anchor as the house band, with Steve Higgins serving as the announcer. As the third incarnation of the Late Night franchise originated by David Letterman, the program originates from NBC Studio 6B in the GE Building at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City. The typical format opens with a brief monologue from Fallon, followed by a 'desk piece,' as well as prerecorded segments and audience competitions. A celebrity interview follows, with guests spanning actors and musicians to media personalities and political figures. The show closes with a musical performance or a comedy set. Digital media is frequently integrated into the show's humor, a contributor to its success. Fallon has been named to take over The Tonight Show, succeeding Jay Leno at the conclusion of the 2014 Winter Olympics, with fellow SNL alum Seth Meyers slated to replace Fallon.
