Leninland
At the height of Perestroika, in 1987, in the village of Gorki—where Lenin spent his final years—after a lengthy construction, the last and most monumental museum of the Leader was opened. Soon after, the ideology shifted and the flow of pilgrims gradually dwindled. Yet the museum endures, and its management searches for ways to attract visitors. Faithful to Lenin’s custodians, they resist the onset of commercialization as best they can. The film chronicles the contemporary life of this remarkable museum-reserve and its employees.
