Memory of Water
Centuries in the future, the world's freshwater reserves have dwindled, fueling wars over water and enabling China to dominate Europe, including the Scandinavian Union. In the remote north, a young woman named Noria trains to become a Tea Master, following in her father's footsteps. Tea Masters alone possess the knowledge of hidden water sources, among them the natural spring tended by Noria's father that once sustained her entire village. After his death, the military moves in to oversee the village—and to keep an eye on Noria. Refusing to yield her freshwater spring, Noria digs deeper into her family's secrets. In the Tea Masters' books, she uncovers evidence that the government's power rests on lies and that fresh water might still be available for everyone. She risks her life as she sets out on a perilous journey to determine whether this is true.

Saara Saarela’s work has nice visuals and quality productive values due to its 2 million euro budget (sparing but appropriate use of CGI), but the idea of a young female rebel struggling against a brutal military dictatorship has been done to death. Hunger Games. Divergent. Etc etc etc and they did it with creativity. The pretty pictures cannot overcome a weak overall plot. There are good points and strong characters but this is not a movie you need to see. 3.5 stars.
