Moscow, Belgium
Moscou is a densely populated working-class district on the outskirts of Ghent, Belgium. Matty, a mother of three, bumps her car into a truck in a supermarket parking lot. Johnny climbs down from the cab, furious about the dent in his front bumper and hurling insults at Matty. Although moved by the accident, Matty counters with sharp, cutting words. Their confrontation escalates into a quarrel that requires police intervention. Matty returns home, the trunk of her car bobbing with each step. Back in her apartment, she takes a hot bath to steady herself after the day’s emotions when the phone rings. It’s Johnny, apologizing for his behavior on the parking lot. Matty tells him to stay out of her life. What follows is a bruised, dramatic comedy about a woman whose soul bears dents and bruises.
