Mr. Sardonicus
Set in 1880, Sir Robert Cargrave, a London physician renowned for his experimental work in paralysis treatment, is summoned to Gorslava by the enigmatic Baron Sardonicus—now married to Cargrave’s former wife, Maude—to attend to his disfigurement. Upon his arrival, Cargrave discovers that the masked baron is a cruel sadist who has threatened Maude with harm if he does not secure a cure.
