A contemplative homage that can be described as Andrei Tarkovsky's prayer to the Creator, the film probes the spiritual, religious essence of the master's artistic vocation, portraying each work as a confession before God and humanity. At the film's core are the confessional diaries of Andrei Tarkovsky and Nikolai Burlyaev, the actors who appeared in Ivan's Childhood and Andrei Rublev.
