Twenty-five-year-old Vadym earns his living by recording and selling a variety of sounds, yet he longs to leave Kyiv for a brighter future in distant Canada. When a generous job offer appears that could help him realize that dream, he seizes it and sets off to capture the sounds of Ukraine's fauna, including a rare bird native to the Carpathians. The undertaking grows more complicated when his companion on the journey turns out to be his mother. Set to a synthesized score, this debut from Ukrainian director Antonio Lukich unfolds as a visually inventive road movie, showcasing a singular talent for crafting poignant, tragicomic moments.
