Not Without My Dogs
Driven by a passion for huskies, the outdoors, and winter's hush, Dave and Kristen Olesen traded Minnesota for Canada's Northwest Territories a quarter of a century ago to craft their own corner of the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. Alongside their two daughters, Annika, 15, and Liv, 12, and a loyal pack of 37 dogs, the Olesens embrace a rugged life in the remote wilderness far from civilization. One winter, they depart their hand-built homestead with ten dogs on a grueling 2,500-mile family odyssey, enabling Annika to compete in the Junior Iditarod in Alaska. Yet unforeseen hurdles along the route threaten the mission, culminating in three severely injured dogs. Through it all, optimism, love, and steadfast loyalty prevail on this exciting epic family voyage.
