NYC: Ron Padgett
Ron Padgett (born 1942) is a poet and editor whose artistic career ignited during his teenage years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There, alongside Joe Brainard and Dick Gallup, he co-created The White Dove Review, a magazine dedicated to art and culture. Padgett and Brainard later moved to New York City together, where Padgett studied at Columbia University under Kenneth Koch and came into contact with a spectrum of Beat poets. He has taught poetry at several New York schools, edited volumes for Full Court Press and Teachers & Writers Magazine, and authored poetry collections, including his 2013 Collected Poems, which earned the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Padgett also penned memoirs of Brainard as well as fellow Tulsa native Ted Berrigan.
