Panic Bodies
Panic Bodies is a 70-minute, six-part meditation on the ways the body can betray us through disease, decline, and death. The film unfolds as a vivid panorama of emotionally charged memories of eccentric relatives and estranged siblings, staged reconstructions of rapidly vanishing pasts and private mythologies, and contemplations on the anxious conditions created by the body’s fragile hold on time and space. It explores the feeling of being a stranger in your own skin. Panic Bodies captures the haunting, spectral quality of any powerful work about mourning, yet it cannot be reduced to that alone. It is also animated by the intimacy that emerges from turning personal secrets into spectacle.
