A wealthy, debonair man named Marco Durán arrives in the small coastal town of San Carlos, both to consolidate his regional ventures and to escape his obsessive and unstable ex-girlfriend, Miranda Narváez. María del Cielo Montalvo is a beautiful and refined young woman, whose strength of character earns the admiration of all the men in the area, and who becomes the object of Marco's instant affection at first sight, as he does not hesitate to ask for her hand after seeing her for the first time.
