Roots: The Next Generations

Roots: The Next Generations is a 1979 television miniseries that continues the fictionalized saga of Alex Haley's family, tracing their lives from 1882 through the 1960s in Henning, Lauderdale County, Tennessee, USA. As a sequel to the 1977 miniseries, it draws on the final seven chapters of Haley's novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family, supplemented with additional material by Haley. The production carried a budget of $16.6 million, nearly three times the size of the original.
