Ten years have passed since the end of Bakumatsu, a turbulent era that incited citizens to rise against the Tokugawa shogunate. The revolutionaries dreamed of a peaceful era and a thriving nation free from oppression. The Meiji era has dawned, yet true peace remains elusive. Swords are banned, but murder still stains the streets. Orphans of war veterans are left with nowhere to turn, while the government appears content to line its pockets with money.
