Sariri
Mountains expose the truth within like no other. Dopamine, inner peace, or the lure of the unreachable are all compelling reasons to seek the summit. Through intimate stories and personal ties to the peaks, Sariri unites five protagonists from Switzerland, Austria, Bolivia, and Peru. Steep alpine walls in the Andes, climbed on skis above 6,000 meters, push the group to their limits. A first descent of the 6,074-meter Chachacomani in Bolivia marks the mountaineers' calculated risk-taking. The invisible power of altitude presents a formidable obstacle to overcome. The film asks why mountains hold such sway in certain lives and why these cloud-catchers of rock, snow, and ice feel like the closest place to heaven. It is the willingness to undertake long journeys—and the mountain itself—that shapes Sariri.
