Storybook Squares
Storybook Squares was a short-lived Saturday-morning variant of Hollywood Squares tailored for children. The key distinction, beyond having kids as contestants, was featuring celebrities in costume portraying well-known fictional characters and some as historical figures. As in the adult version, Peter Marshall hosted and Kenny Williams served as announcer; Williams read the characters' names from a scroll as The Guardian of the Gate, a role reminiscent of his Town Crier on Video Village. The series originally aired on NBC from January 4 to April 19, 1969, with repeats airing until August 30.
