Tajouj

Set at the dawn of the 20th century in eastern Sudan, Tajouj is the enchanting cousin of a young tribesman who falls deeply in love and proclaims his passion in song. Yet his tribe's customs forbid such a union, and his uncle denies his request to wed Tajouj. After the youth leaves the village and confesses his remorse, the marriage is eventually permitted. Meanwhile, another suitor expresses interest in Tajouj. A tale steeped in jealousy unfolds, culminating in tragedy.
