The Devil's Bridge
Set in a Kyrgyz Republic mountain village, life revolves around a cable rope bridge that connects the community to the wider world. Locals call it 'The devil's bridge.' Teenage boys shoulder the task of constructing the rope of the bridge, while a platform driven by a massive winch must be hauled by their own strength to cross the torrent, their only link to the outside world. Yet the documentary's director wonders: does this bridge unite the people or does it actually separate them? Through the mist and over the thrashing waters, the inhabitants glide along their ropes. In the director’s own words, the film is about ordinary people who live in an extraordinary place.
