The Final Twist
After three unsuccessful Olympic attempts, the 30-year-old Aljona Savchenko pursues a bold goal: to win gold in four years with a new partner. The plan is audacious, especially since the young Frenchman Bruno Massot, chosen by the German-Ukrainian ice princess, has no international success in pairs. He moves to Germany, unaware of the manic perfectionist he is joining forces with. Aljona’s training is grueling; constant clashes over the right course threaten to derail the project. Two utterly different characters collide, but a team of coaches manages to restore calm. February 2018: the Winter Olympics in South Korea begin with the short program. Inexplicably, Bruno falters, and the pair sit fourth by a wide margin. Gold seems almost impossible. The only option is to showcase their unique free skating. Their intoxicating, flawless run will go down in history—the free skate of their lives.
