In 2016, four mummies from the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid were removed from their display cases and transported to a renowned hospital in Madrid to be studied with the world’s most advanced radiological technology. Yet no one could foresee that beneath the bandages of the so-called Golden Mummy lay a secret more than two thousand years old—a hieroglyphic enigma that concealed the identity of one of the world's best-preserved Egyptian mummies.
