In the small town of Hualin, taxi driver Wang Xiang is set to meet the person he most desires and fears, a meeting that demands explanations for himself and for his son. Wang Xiang carries himself with the confidence of a train driver, yet falters when faced with the everyday trivialities of his own family. The factory stands on the verge of collapse, and the discovery of an unidentified dismembered body weighs on him. For twenty years, Wang Xiang is trapped across three distinct eras, pursuing a truth that threads through past, present, and future, in an effort to solve an unsolved mystery. When the answer is finally revealed, time and space fuse into one, and only the dirge of fate remains across the long seasons.
