Set in the early 20th century, the tale follows Sergeant TSU, a police officer, as he partners with comprador Mr. KING to arrest a thief in Hong Kong. The thief's victim, ROBINSON, is relieved to recover the stolen painting and offers to commission a portrait of the two men as a token of gratitude. During the portrait session, TSU and KING exchange looks heavy with mutual hostility. The narrative then shifts to the present day, where the TSU family is dogged by a broadband services salesman. Patriarch TSU HON-FEI grows furious and tries to scare off the intruder by boasting about a storied police lineage. The salesman quickly discerns that FEI's eldest son KWOK-ON and his second son KWOK-LEUNG are not police officers. In fact, SIU-LAI, FEI's youngest daughter, is the only family member serving in the police force.
