Winner of the DOC NYC Audience Award, director Nick Canfield’s debut feature follows gospel-rock icon and activist Reverend Vince Anderson. After entering seminary, Vince dropped out to answer his second calling—music. With his band The Love Choir, he has staged a now-legendary weekly show for more than twenty years. Through renewed faith and his intensely soulful performances, he began to preach a universal spirituality that is open to all, meets people where they are, and moves everyone who sees him play. Reverend Vince is also deeply involved in social justice, collaborating with other faith leaders across the country to build inclusive communities. Featuring Questlove and a vivid lineup of quirky musicians, The Reverend is both a high-energy concert film and an intimate portrait of Vince’s inspiring personal and spiritual journey.
