The Tale of the Old Oak Tree
Not long ago, in this region there lived a boy named Makarka. After his grandmother left for the city, Makarka grew restless and began to break trees, shoot nests with chicks, and carve his own name on a tree trunk. An ancient oak spoke to him, asking whether such behavior could be tolerated. In bold defiance, Makarka replied that nothing terrible was happening. Then the angry trees and birds resolved to teach the unworthy boy a lesson, and what followed forced the bully to think and, reluctantly, to seek forgiveness.
