The Wonderful World of Disney
Since 1954, Walt Disney Productions has produced an anthology television series under a variety of titles. The original edition premiered on ABC on Wednesday night, October 27, 1954. Initially hosted by Walt Disney until his death and later, from 1996 to 2002, by then-CEO Michael Eisner (with occasional one-off hosts or periods without a host), the program has continued to air either as a weekly show or as irregular specials across multiple networks and streaming services, most recently on ABC and Disney+. It ranks as the second-longest-running prime-time program in American television, behind Hallmark Hall of Fame. However, Hallmark Hall of Fame was weekly only during its first five seasons, while Disney’s run remained a weekly program for more than forty years.
